Why We Built Plandid
Plandid was created to enhance transparency and ease in the photography industry. Our mission is to empower photographers by facilitating direct connections with clients, using a user-friendly platform that simplifies the booking experience.
So how did Daniel and I get the idea for Plandid? It began with a simple yet challenging task: finding a car photographer for the delivery of Adam Weitsman's Bugatti. Located upstate New York, the struggle to find skilled talent in such a niche category sparked the groundbreaking idea —why isn't there an Airbnb for photographers?

This question wasn't just about finding a car photographer. It extended to numerous personal experiences where a professional photographer could have made a significant difference: from capturing moments at a bridal shower to documenting nights out in the city, social media content creation, and even photographing products as a business owner. The need was clear, and the solution was Plandid—a dedicated platform to make photography accessible and connect people with the best talent.
Our initial step was understanding the market. Surveys sent to both photographers and clients revealed a common challenge: photographers needed help marketing their skills, and clients craved a reliable, specific way to find and book them, beyond the inefficient word-of-mouth method.

Fuelled by these insights, we began developing Plandid. I created the screens in Adobe and then sourced a freelance developer to help make the mock app functional. We used this as a pitch to investors who successfully secured funding to build our product. The following months were dedicated to meticulously designing the brand and app interfaces. Development took ten months, culminating in the launch of Plandid on the iOS platform, finally offering a seamless way to book photographers.

Plandid isn't just an app; it's a movement to democratize photography services, ensuring that finding the perfect photographer for any occasion is just a few clicks away. Our mission from the start has been to eliminate the friction in booking photography talent, and with Plandid, we're excited to say that mission is becoming a reality.
